Valenciasman, I agree, especially if personal information is being passed on. No different to passing on recommendations for tradesmen in my view. I personally wouldn't want my contact details available for all to see.

Nobody is upset we were just ponting out that the forunm is for helpful information as you had just said you had information on how you obtained your residencia and were private messaging that info - Of course we always say it's best to use the private message system if it's for personal details such as addresses & phone numbers.
Sorry if you may have thought it was personal but it wasnt as we have general advice here for everyone :

No problem. I chose to keep it private as I didn't want to enter into any lengthy discussions in public i.e. why didn't you use so and so, why did you do this etc? I have seen how some members acted in various Brexit forums.

Just out of interest, the demand to read my experiences has been very high.

So a person who may never have paid a penny in to the Spanish system will have full health care. That is rather generous of them and will cost them a fair few bob I guess?
As far as I can make out the Spanish do not cover the cost of the UK Pensioners' expats healthcare, they claim it back from the UK. The UK pensioners who are entitled to health care in Spain, after becoming Resident, have generally paid in the National Insurance system in the UK before coming to live in Spain.
Jan, perhaps I never put it very clearly. I am fully aware of how it stands now with people on an S1 (OAP's pension). I am talking, as I thought we all were, of what will happen after the UK leaves the EU. I am reading that there won't be a problem and health care will carry on as before for the people on their pension. That is why I asked the question as to whether the Spanish government will take over the costs, if as the UK is entitled to, stop it if they leave the EU. They say there is a treaty but I would think that would be for those within the EU?
Obvously those who are registered to work in Spain and make national insurance contributions can get state-run health care on the same basis as a Spanish national.
Expats under pension age, arriving in Spain to live, may have to make their own arrangements for health care.
Here's a link that gives the 'arrangements' for healthcare as they are now but this will be subject to change in two years time or when negotiations have concluded:
https://www.gov.uk/guidance/healthcare-in-spain
All we know, at the moment, is the above will stay in place while negotiations are taking place for the UK to leave the EU, which is expected to be at least 2 years.
The free EHIC card covers unexpected and emergency health issues while on holiday (non-resident) in Spain, although it has always been advisable to have a travel insurance policy as well to cover certain things that the EHIC will not cover.
The EHIC may continue after the UK leaves the EU but it appears to depend on the Trade/ Free movement of people in Europe and therefore what the UK eventually manages to negotiate as to whether we get access to it in the future.
Not sure if this card will continue, after exiting and as non members of a scheme that is part of the EU, will the UK wish to pay out for anything that occurs to a tourist, if not, will Spain want to offer it free, I think not but......
As said before, we are all in the dark at the moment as to what the future will hold for Expats in Spain but I hope I have explained more or less correctly the situation now. If not I'm sure someone will correct me.

Please bear in my that a lot of EU people will still visit the UK, it may be the EHIC card in some form will continue. Personally my thoughts are we will continue to be part of the EU in some form, probably similar to Norway. You cant change 40 years of integration easily. Some people thought we would exit the EU on June 24th and immigration would cease overnight.

I would tend to agree with that. The new agreement (when the final split takes place) may have changes but in general there will be some kind of reciprocol treatment. The same people who must have thought exiting would take place on the 24th were no doubt some of the brexiters.....

I think Tony Blair was correct yesterday... he said that the UK should see what is on offer from the EU.. if it is nothing at all, and they cast the UK adrift... then the UK should do what is best for the UK..
read into that what you will...
read into that what you will...
