What happened to the Brit ex Pats vote?

Postby The Rower » Fri Jun 24, 2016 4:16 pm

I understood that around 1.1 million Ex Pat Brits registered to vote in the EU referendum. I believe I also read you got a postal vote? I was watching the returns coming in this morning and expected a huge surge in "remain" votes, but never saw where there included the ex Pat votes. I just wondered if anyone knows for sure how and where they included these votes? I saw the figure for Gibralter was the first one announced, which I assume was for ex pats?

No, Gibraltar is a British territory and the Gibraltar vote was for Gibraltarians. The expat vote, not sure. Maybe those votes came under the area in the UK they were from originally.

I don't know either but here's the area votes. Makes interesting viewing -My area of the UK Epsom & Ewell was an 'IN' vote majority even though we have the high profile 'OUT' campaigner MP Chris Grayling.

Hi,
We had to send our postal votes to Fife as it was the last area where we were entitled to vote.
If, as an ex-pat, you were entitled to a vote then I would imagine that your vote would be included in your former area in the UK.

OK, we'll call her an IN, you only need another 999,999 to break even. Perhaps you could find a few people who couldn't get out because they were stuck on the loo all day.
