bank card

bank card

Postby tonemar » Sat Jul 15, 2017 11:04 am

Last week my debit card was refused in a Quesada shop.
During the week used the card in Torre and elsewhere with no problems, so, thought it a one off.
Today refused 3 times in Quesada, but OK in Mercadona!!
Seems it,s only Quesada
Obviously cannot get to the Bank until next week, just interested if anybody else has had a similar experience.

Do you mean refused to accept the card or when attempting the card payment declined ? As we had a similar problem last week.

I had a similar problem with mine a couple of years ago, some shops it would others.not, took it to the bank, and they got me a new one, had to wait a few days, but if you need cash try one of the machines outside the bank, mine was Sol bank, or they offered me cash,to tide me over, when I was there. Good Luck don't panic!

This usually happens when the card is kept in a bag or pocket near a mobile phone, the Banks are aware of it & change the cards quite quickly. Women have more of a problem often keeping the card in one pocket of a handbag & the phone in another, but of course when the bag is closed they often come together.

Had the same problem years ago at Sainsbury's. Card embarrassingly rejected several times. Put trolley on one side, went outside, drew cash out of ATM with same card, went back in and paid for the shopping. ❓❓

Have had the same problem in the Quesada area as well, card in date and no reason why. Luckily had another card. Went back next day and card accepted, weird!

Another possibility which happened to us recently? We both have a card on the same account. Mine worked, but my wife's didn't always this particular month. We got the BBVA to get her a new one which took three days. At which point we discovered / noticed that in fact hers was a credit card. She had been close to the credit limit and so any purchases that pushed it over the limit were refused, although paying on my (debit) card from the same account was fine. This might sound stupid, but we had never asked for a credit card and it took this to happen for us to find out!
