Have read somewhere that Sabadell will be charging €120 a year for non residency fees and Bankia nothing or minimal. Should I change banks is it easy

All banks charge more or less the same for a non residence certificate. I wouldn't believe everything you read unless it comes from the bank themselves. We are with Sabadell and are very happy (having been with a number of other banks in the past) and they charge no more than any other bank and sometimes less. We haven't had any notification of any changes to their charges.
Jan.

Sabadell is increasing its quarterly charge for non-resident accounts to €30 a quarter. The non-resident certificate is a different charge altogether. Many people are commenting on this increase.
Bankia will also have charges but I don't know what they are as we have a resident account and, paying in 200 euro a month salary or pension, gives us totally free banking.
I would suggest you pop along to the Bankia branch and ask there how much the maintenance charge for a non-resident account is. They were advertising the cessation of all fees but the letter I got was a bit confusing as it didn't seem to draw a line between resident and non-resident accounts.
This is a the online one which is the same as the email they sent me which says the salary of €450 a month or pension of only200 euro a month will give you free banking.
Bankia Fees
As said, nip along to the Bankia branch and see if this applies to non-resident accounts as well.

We're with Bankia and there are no charges as long as you deposit at leat 1000é per month.
Changing banks is easily done. Just don't expect all the "nice" things you get in the UK like automatically switching your direct debits.

We are with Santander but not for too much longer. The bank that likes to say no.
Went in this morning only the manager in attendance talking to a couple in his office. After standing 20 minutes in a queue politely asked if anyone was attending to the desk. Brusquely told that the people he was attending to in the office had made an appointment. Surprised that if he was the only one in the bank that he had made appointments.
