Fibre optic availability?

Fibre optic availability?

Postby Black » Sat Dec 23, 2017 7:27 pm

I'm told that fibre optic has not been rolled out to 100% of Quesada yet- is it possible to find out if a particular street has it ? I'm interested in Av. del Recorral.

If it's not available I'm guessing internet connection will be via ADSL or wireless (wimax?). I've not had any experience with the latter so no idea how it compares. Any pros and cons to consider? Also I would welcome recommendations for suppliers. Thanks.

Depends what you are using the internet for. If it is just for surfing and emails, IE not using much download per month, then your best bet is 4g with a 4g router from someone like Orange. You get very a fast reliable internet connection but the downside is that you are restricted to about 40-50Gb per month after which the speed is throttled.

Wimax is unlimited, IE good for streaming and downloads, however the service is very patchy in poor weather and especially at high demand periods like easter and summer when everyone is getting reconnected in their holiday homes.

ADSL from Movistar depends on where you are located on their system, ask in the movistar shops and they will tell you the maximum download speed at your address.

You can ask your fibre optic supplier, telfly? in Rojales, when to expect fibre in your street.

Thanks I had not considered 4g, it's an other possibility, we are not heavy users but might stream the occasional movie. Mostly it's needed for email, browsing, facetime etc.

We have recently change to DVBLAB, in benijofar, after spending many years with telfonica for landline and using another company for internet!!so paying out for both,,and VERY slow speeds!!! Now we have a small dish and pay just 19 euro a month,to them for supplying a much faster speed,,cant say how fast but never buffers,,just go in and see them,,they are very helpfull, if you drive to the lage roundabout, heading toward the ap7, but instead of taking the ap7 turn sharp right and it is down there on the right,,it is the easiest way to go.

Thanks all for the recommendations. I would prefer fibre optic if it's available, I have a feeling it's not yet in that part of town. Hopefully I'm wrong.
