G.I.Box

I have a G.I. box (Genius) please does anyone know what format I have to use to undo a repeat request on a recording.
I chose to record a program and instead of pressing record once, I pressed record series and now I cannot undo this which is so aggravating Please can you help?

It's a while since I ditched my GI box in favour of a Humax Freesat box, bit from memory you do this...
Go into the Preferences menu and choose USB. You then see the recorded files and I think that you can then see the scheduled recordings. I think there are coloured dots at the bottom of the screen that correspond to the four couloured buttons on the remote and one of these allows you to delete the series link when the offending scheduled recording is highlighted.

A bit vague I'm afraid, but hopefully it points you in the right direction.

Thank you so much Pete for your reply I shall try this tomorrow. Is the Humax Freesat box an improvement on the GI Box because it grieves me that when recording a program I cant watch anything else.

To be able to record one channel while watching another you'll need two cables from your dish to your box. You'll also need a twin LNB on your dish (the bit in the middle where the wires connect to). Chances are that you probably have a twin LNB already, but if you do t have two cables then you'll need someone to run another cable for you. If the existing cables runs through a conduit then there's a good chance a second cable could be pulled-through without too much bother.

Once you have two cables and a twin LNB then you'll need a sat box that has twin tuners, which I don't think your GI box has.

We use a Humax HDR-1000s, which has twin tuners and a built-in hard drive so you can record one channel whilst watching another. It's has much nicer controls than the GI box and a proper TV guide/planner.
I think the HDR-1100s is the latest model in the range, which is a bit smaller than the one we have.

Yes, we bought an 1100S, for just that reason. We kept the old receiver and one that we were given, had a Quad LNB fitted so of the same dish, with 4 cables, we can watch & record different channels in the living room, watch or record another channel in the Dining Room & watch another channel in the Study. You might want to think about running 2 additional cables (while you're having one, it should cost much more for 2), giving you 3 in total, installing a Quad LNB (which does mean you'll have to replace your existing, unless it's already a Quad), running 2 cables to your new twin tuner (for watch & record), then use your existing box somewhere else in your property.

Thank you both for your replies I am not sure that all my LNB are being used but I will get this investigated and I am sure I need a technician probably for installation I am so grateful to you both for your reply and will update you when I am sorted.

To get rid of the timer issue, you just need to go into the menu, then timer section, will be in their somewhere, you'll see evidence of this repeated timer - which clearly needs to be cancelled.

European satellite receivers - any, don't come with the UK based Freesat service weekly guide and the twin tuner models are easy to use for the recording. However as stated do need 2 cable feeds - and you can't split the cable, must come straight from LNB. There are options to upgrade LNB if needed from single to twin to quad...after that starts getting a little more costly (adding in commercial type equipment for more ports).

Just so you are aware, Freesat boxes (any) they are not officially supplied in Spain - so if any kind of warranty issue, you'll be sending back to the UK, so is worth keeping a spare / the original receiver, just in case.

You can now get "shotgun" cable in UK (ebay) which is one cable with 2 "runs" - it splits at the

ends for the plugs to be fitted - you obviously still need a twin LNB for 2 feeds - or more, & these are

also available in UK - not sure here

the shotgun cable is about same diameter as single old style cable - no loss of signal power if "run" is not over 20 mtrs

I have an octo (8 feeds obviously) LNB in uk So have sat/freesat in 4 rooms off one dish with twin feeds on each - presume that can be done in Spain ?

On ebay last year I got a brand new dish,level, octo LNB,50 mtrs shotgun cable & clips,8 plugs for £60

Fitted myself in place of the old dish to save on installation costs - all dishes fitted in Spain dont tend to rust like in UK so the

total without the new dish would be about £40 !
