Has anyone else's Britbox stopped working?

Postby panchotaff » Thu Oct 23, 2014 4:28 pm

I purchased a Britbox 6 months ago. All working fine until yesterday.

Anybody else who has a Britbox having the same problem at present and if so have you fixed it?

Thanks

Hi, do not know what a britbox is but if was me I would take the plug out of the wall for 2/3 mins and see if that works.

Is it a hardware problem, in other words it does not switch on or is the software no longer working for you?

Thanks all for the replies / advice.

The problem is as follows:
When I switch the box on it loads the home page screen with service options it goes on the following message appears in the top RH corner of the screen:
Script Failed.
I can get UK Live TV but nothing else - It would therefore appear that the Internet connection is OK

When I try to access the other services I get the
message
Script failed!:Plugin.video.1chanel.

I understand that there was a recent update to the 1 chanel software.

To my simple mind It seems to me that either the updating script has failed or the box is faulty.

If the updating script has failed how do I rectify this please?
Thanks

The Britbox uses a piece of freely available software called XBMC. A quick google will get you to the support forums. There have been a lot of problems with the 1Channel addon for months now. You may be able to uninstall and re-install. Just google 1channel install xbmc and you will find Youtube videos showing how to do it.
Aletrnatively you may want to install Navi-X (if the Britbox does not come with this already installed). It is a really reliable program addon for XBMC that will let you find pretty much anything.

Hi Panchostaff

If you are looking to watch Films and TV shows then I recommend looking for something on your box called "Mash up" - this has worked for me as the best way to find things using the Mash Up Super Search. You will see that when you search for something it will give you multiple links, just go through the links until you find one that works. I've found ones with Mbox next to them seem to work best.

Hope that helps

The Script Failed error is a generic fault error, problem is related to a number of things, including no internet connection, which is not the case in the instance.

Issue seems to be with this one specific application. It is possible that it is down (I cannot check today as working from remote location). Go to settings, add ons, video applications, navigate your way to 1 channel settings. If update has caused problem you may be able to 'roll back' change - you will see option.

Other video add ons such as mash up, icefilms and too many others to count also have film / series content, so if issue with this add on, then use another app / add on.

Unlikely to be box as working, so app / software / setting related.

Additionally XBMC has been through a number of changes in the last 6 months, so it is possible the main media software may need updating. If not technically minded and patient, not the simplest of tasks.

If you cannot get service back or support required, we can offer service to set up / reflash box with latest software and updated set up.
