I'm able to use Sky Go, but I don't use a VPN, I use Smart DNS Proxy.
They do a free 2-week trial (no credit card required) so you can give it a go if you wish.

Smart DNS is a much better technology solution than VPN. You don't suffer any loss of performance caused by the VPN bottleneck and it's much more secure too.
You can also get ITV Hub, BBC iPlayer, 4 On Demand etc using Smart DNS.

I have used a VPN called Tunnel Bear and had no problem accessing Sky Go and BBC Iplayer. It costs me £2.99 a month though it is cheaper if you take an annual subscription
The only problem I have had is accessing BT Sport....somehow it recognises I am not in the UK.

Interested to know more about Smart DNS though

Use the free trial to give Smart DNS proxy a try and see if it works for BT Sport - if it doesn't then drop them an email and see if they can add it to the list of services.

If you're using a VPN on a laptop or tablet and using the same device to check emails, access online banking or log in to any site that requires a password then you're taking a huge security risk. You have no control over which servers are used to provide the VPN tunnel and there's every chance that your data is being intercepted somewhere along the way.
A DNS proxy works in a totally different way and gives much better security as well as performance.

I use cyberghost to access my Irish Skygo account with no problems. Free in the play store.

I use smart DNS on my Samsung Smart Tv. You can insrall it directly on the Tv, your laptop, or your router, depending what device you wish to cover.
We get all catch up on the Tv, as well as Amazon Prime and a choice of Netflix regions.
Smart Dns is excellent and cost me £15 a year, as held back sighning up untill the trial was over therefore getting an offer.
Its a 2 minute job setting it up, just enter a new DNS number in Network settings.
As we have a non fixed Ip address we have to log in to Smart Dns before using it to reload new Ip address. This happens automatically on log in, so its no bother.
Smart Dns also includes VPN and VPN plus in the price.

If i get smart DNS can i use it on tablet and tv and laptop etc. Or do you have to pay every time you download the app. I like to read the paper when over and use the online ones when i had a vpn. i hope this makes sense, so i can read the paper and watch the tv with the same samrt DNS account.

You only need one Smart DNS account for all your devices. It isn't an app that you download, you just log-in to the website to register your external IP address with the service then set-up your devices so that they use the Smart DNS settings when accessing the Internet. Their website has guides that show you how to do it for a whole range of devices.
If your external IP address changes (this usually happens when you restart your router, but can happen every now and again if your internet provider decides to re-allocate addresses) then you just log-in to their website again and click the Update button.
