Sky plus monthly premiums
Sky plus monthly premiums
by Ken woodland » Sun Jul 31, 2016 2:23 pm
Can anyone tell me the minimum sky package that one has to pay in order to be able to use Sky plus. Ie,
Watch one channel and record another.
I have read that the record function does not work if you do not pay a monthly subscription .
Has anyone had experience of this please.
Thanks. Ken

We have just had sky installed, hence the sale of our barely used FREEVIEW box, with the full package and were offered various options, ie switch on switch off etc but plumped for the full package at 97 euros for the box and 23 euros pm for the full package is sports films etc.

That's correct Ken, you will not be able to record unless you subscribe. In the UK sky are offering their basic package with a free 32" Tv for 20pounds. You might be better buying a Freesat recorder box,you will get the same FREE channels as you would with a non subscription sky box but there is no subscription.

Yup - Superbeam, have nothing to do with Sky. Also boxes they use are very basic / generic.
For the 23€ per month they charge, there are a number of different methods of getting Sky, including services at same cost or less, which also have much newer / modern features such as catch up TV and video on demand + a whole lot more channels for the same money. Super beam running a 20 year old rebroadcast system - better quality / value / services out there now.
For official Sky, with the sports - expect to pay £40+ per month, anything less than this is not an official service. Minimum Sky package is around £20 per month, which would get you the twin tuner recording - though as others have stated if you are happy with the UK terrestrials, may as well get yourself a twin tuner freeway box instead and save messing around with Sky (unless you want the premium channels).

Thanks to all the above replies.
I am going to get a twin tuner box and have two sat cables to connect to it. All we we want are the free view channels . Can I record one channel and watch another with a twin tuner decoder?
Thanks
Ken

I've got Superbeam and would highly recommend it. Funny "Paul TV Techie" you constantly rip on the re-broadcasters in the area, and you yourself flog the online equivalent of rebroadcasting! I agree Superbeam/Torresat are not for everyone - but many people, including myself find the service perfect for their needs.
