TV & Broadband Package for move to La Finca
TV & Broadband Package for move to La Finca
by mcctinker » Sat Jan 13, 2018 9:44 pm
I will be moving to La Finca mid-February. I am keen to find out the best supplier/package for my internet and TV.
I don’t intend to have a landline phone. I would like to receive U.K. tv channels. At home in the U.K. I am quite happy with the Freeview selection we have - I have never subscribed to Sky and am not interested in getting it in Spain.
I understand that in Spain, your location often determines who your best supplier will be. Do I need a satellite dish and if so, can it be one of those very small ones ? I believe that La Finca is wired for fibre-optic broadband, although Idon’t know if this costs more or if I need it that fast ? I have read Techie TV Paul’s guide on the forum. I think either a satellite dish provider may be my thing, or a subscription IPTV service ? If so, what are set up/installation costs ? And then ongoing monthly costs ?
Finally, I want something that is reliable, and easy to use.
Also, will I need to re-set up my Netflix membership ? I seem to think I couldn’t access Netflix on my tablet last time in Spain. So assume my IP address blocks it ? If so, and I register with them as a Spanish resident, will my Netflix content alter dramatically ? Or is it very similar to U.K. content ?

Please remember a lot of the communities on La Finca have community satellite dishes ask your President what they offer, also La Finca does have optic fibre throughout at a reasonable cost.
Best ask community first then decide what else you want.

Hi,
We are a locally established company.
As above poster has suggested, if fibre is available this is the best option for you internet wise & probably best option for this to find out is to speak with local neighbours. We have service technicians that install for Telitec and may be able to offer you internet, though unlikely to be fibre. In order to establish more, we would need to review your full address.
IPTV wise - a few options, all on the website below - however to summarise. If free to air, then a satellite dish is the most economical long term solution. IPTV if you have reasonable internet will give you options of on demand, catch up and premium type content channels, though with a subscription attached. Subscription costs for a decent stable hosted service with premium content between €20-€30 per month, depending on service/subscription period.

UK & Euro IPTV - this is currently the most popular service (we offer other services including terrestrial only / pay as you go etc).
Satellite dish information.

The above TV systems are of course based on private installations - if you have a community satellite system, the obvious would usually be to connect to that dish, as usually would be more economical. If you then decide you want additional content, catch up / on-demand films and series or sports - you could add in IPTV - split of both systems is possible.
