Cycling Routes by Cyclogical

I have just found this website for Cyclogical - The bicycle & accessories shop in Quesada. They have lots of cycle routes on there. If you enjoy cycling like I do, these routes are really handy.

We are going to do the route into Guardarmar next time but will be adapting it to suit my fear of main roads without separated cycle lanes. If anyone wants to know the back street alternative cycling route to get to Rojales, let me know.

hi Jan, I'd love to know the back way to Rojales (and Guardamar in due course). Like you I hate cycling on busy roads.

The back road is go down the big hill from Aeropuerto Avinida and go straight over the island where the statue is. Go straight to the T junction and turn right. You come to a small island second exit (straight accross) and follow the road to Guardamar. You come to the industrial estate by the castle. Simples!

That's one route to Guardamar Glyn and we haven't tried it but we have been that way in the car and felt it would be a killer by bike, for us leisure cyclists, because of the long steep hills. Even getting to and up the long aeropuerto road would be too much for us, not being of the speedy fit 'lycra' brigade

Hi Maria Elena, I will try to draw a map and write down the actual names of the roads when we cycle the route on our next trip to Quesada in April, but here's an idea of the back-street route we use to Rojales:

Go up the mini golf road (Los Arcos -where the Lime Bar was) right to the end and then cut across the piece of waste land facing you, then straight on, up the road behind the big new Chinese bazaar and carry straight on until you get a T junction, behind the new Mercadona.
At the T junction, turn right. Keep straight on (this is another quiet flat road) until you get to the end of this road, where you will be at a sort of T junction, but to stop cars getting through there's a high curb stone. You have to walk the bike over this curb stone and turn left and go straight on, up a slight incline, keep going straight ahead and you will see a long hill going down (this bit is really fun, as it's possible to free-wheel all the way down to the bottom. However, coming back this hill may appear daunting but it is easier than it looks and can be tackled with a combination of walking & gentle cycling..you'll see what I mean)
When you get to the bottom of this hill at the end of the road, you can turn left for a drink or lunch in one of the many eateries in Benimar (we break the journey here sometimes) or go right and you will see the Rojales cemetery in front of you. Then take any left hand road into the Avenida de la Constitucion which runs through the centre of Rojales. For Guardamar follow on from the cycle route by Cyclogical.

There are other routes to Rojales but, as I said before, we use this route to avoid main road traffic. Often this route can be almost traffic-free as it passes through quiet residential areas.

Hope this helps but I will make it clearer next time we cycle the route.
