Clean-Up Job!! UPDATE

Clean-Up Job!! UPDATE

Postby Sandra » Thu May 10, 2012 11:44 pm

I am writing to inform you that yesterday I received a called from the Mayor of Rojales, Antonio Perez, with a very supportive attitude regarding my proposal to contribute cleaning up the gardens of the old finca in Dona Pepa.
The Mayor of Rojales, Antonio Perez, even suggested that if we wait a few weeks, he will have time to organize containers for the rubbish, traffic control and First Aiders. I believe we should do it on Sunday the 3rd of June from 10am until 2pm. The Mayor even said that the Town Hall would promote this event in order to get more help from residents of our neighborhood.

I think it is a great opportunity so show our community how integrated we can be with our lovely Town called Rojales.

Please, spread the news to all your family, friends and neighbors and come along and join together to beautify our neighborhood.

Best regards

Francisco Lidon

Being a bit sceptical I think Mr Lidon is nearly always thinking of ways to increase his restaurant trade

Yes, I know that he had to close Manolo's down through lack of trade, but I have heard that his other one is very nice.

He is head honcho of Donapepaonline - a neighbourhood group - which is trying to improve the area. He has quite a few communities within this group and is trying to make it a pressure group to improve the local community. As he is also an estate agent - and a better looking community always helps a property to sell!!

It's always nice for members to 'declare their interest', if any, when they post .....helps to keep the cynics quiet(er)!

On the subject of 'cleaning-up', I have a whinge to share about the disgusting mess on the tiles between the Indian restaurant near Euromarina(India House?) and the empty building next door(formerly a Russian-owned restaurant).
It appears that someone has tipped a large quantity of (presumably) used cooking oil from the kitchen if the Indian, whence it has run downhill almost to the road in front of the Indian and Rizzo's restaurants.

I walked down there fairly soon after and nearly went A over T as it was extremely slippery. This was about a week ago(probably more) and no attempt appears to have been made to clean it up....in fact the other day, there was more wetness there suggesting that it had been added-to

Wondering if there is someone on the Council to whom it could be reported, without the hassle of much paperwork?

I receive regular updates from Francisco Lidon, as I was interested to see what he was offering with his community projects. I had a word (a couple of years ago) with the then president of my community to see if he would be interested in joining - as on the face of it it sounded very interesting being able to have a Spaniard who had the "direct ear" of the local councils. However, when Mr Lidon visited my community - Conjunto Ronda - neither the then president (German) or the then vice-president (Spanish) were very keen on what he was offering. However, as I don't live in Spain I find it useful to receive the latest news of the happenings in the vicinity!!

I would firstly try having a word with the local town hall about this problem, Roger. Nothing seems to move quickly - and as for the paperwork... well.... no comment... except to say that the old English civil servants seem to have given the Spanish a lot of advice - everything in triplicate!!

Good luck with your reporting - as someone could be caught unawares and have a nasty accident.

Thanks, Sandra...there is a man who has an office in Quesada Ayto who seems quite willing to help with 'causes' ...forgotten his name, but have it somewhere!
