Can anyone recommend car hire insurance?

I have used insurance4carhire for several years and had to make one claim, £178, for a broken windscreen. It went through and was paid-out without problems, although there was quite a bit of form-filling, and it was not 'speedy'. I am a very satisfied customer.

:text-thankyouyellow:

Always good to know when these things work out well. You never know how good an insurance is until you have to make a claim but nobody really wants to test out that theory!

Thanks for the feedback.

I have considered this option many times as like everyone else I resent being ripped off with the car hire company top ups. However I am put off by the small print blurb which warns that a big deposit will be charged against your card if you don't take theirs. I don't trust the companies not to abuse this on some pretext.

We use car hire companies that don't have those kind of small print rules and they don't argue if you don't want their optional top up insurances. We have never had a deposit kept against our card. In the last few years we have always used Open Car in Quesada but even when we were using the airport companies they never held a deposit. In fact we have never even told them we have our own top up insurance and they don't ask, even when we refuse their top up insurance but I suppose, to be on the safe side, you may have to shop around for those that don't have this small print.
