Car Hire from Alicante

Car Hire from Alicante

Postby Alison Taylor » Sun Jul 17, 2016 2:47 pm

Has anyone used Costa Blanca Car Hire recently? I have always booked through a broker, either DoitSpai. Or Economy. Cars from either Firefly or Drivalia. Find queues at Firefly are excessive waiting for up to an hour. Drivalia recently good.
Want full to full. I have our own excess reduction insurance.

Hi Alison.

Sorry - not really answering your question, but I've been over 5 times this year, and have used Firefly through DoYouSpain.com on each occasion. I know that most (if not all) rental companies (including Firefly) get slated on the review sites, but I can say that I've never had any issue at all with them. I've also got the excess insurance (through insurance4carhire.com) and they've never tried to pressure-sell at all.

I think the advice is "take photos...LOTS of photos"...and get them to check the car upon return...!!!

So...I've not experienced any queues, although my flights have tended to be evening ones, not arriving until either 10pm or 11pm-ish...what sorts of times are you arriving?

Would be interested to know if there are any good alternative options though!!!

If your getting a very early flight out the UK and arriving at Alicante before midday you can clear the Goldcar and Firefly queues in less than 30 mins. Arriving after lunch forget Firefly the queues are horrendous go with Goldcar.

For my pennies worth, I'd say be careful of DoItSpain as I booked through them and they appear to be a broker for RecordGo. Although I have prebooked a car I waited nearly two hours on Monday at there desk in Alicante airport, where there was a guy from Record walking the queue saying if we paid €25 we could join the shorter not booked queue! And when I finally got to the counter the clerk promised as my booking was for 8 weeks he'd find me a really good car... Good Car "my foot" its got over 55,000 Km more dents and scratches than I've ever seen on a hire car (which they claim to have details of but thanks to someone here I remembered to take photos), they could not find it in the car park and I have to return in at 2000km despite I have an unlimited mileage deal

Not impressed

Hi everyone
I've also been over 4/5 times this year both through Alicante & Murcia. Have used Centauro on all occasions, never had to queue more than 1 or 2 people in front of us, the Cars & service always been excellent. They also accept when you have your own excess insurance without a problem.
As a side issue, last year when we had a problem with one of their cars, they changed it NO PROBLEM
