Car Insurance: who can drive the car?

hi

I'm planning to buy a car and leave it by my house in order for my family and friends to use it when they are present. Is there any rules or regulations ; Who can drive the car?

Hi anyone over a certain age, not sure off hand but someone will let you know you will also need a signed letter stating that you give each person who may drive your permission to do so and it needs to be with them when driving.

for your family you can have them named on the insurance certificate, for friends a letter of authorisation in spanish include name and passport number

We have a car that we leave for friends and family, our insurance is for anyone over 27 with at least three years experience.Try AXA they are very helpful.

You still need the authority to drive letter or it can cause problems if you are stopped, the reason for this is anyone could steal your car and drive it under your insurance!!! that is why they are now insisting on the authorisation to drive! and I can totally understand it as it protects your car if stolen! my policy is anyone over 23 years I think but will check.

My policy allows anyone over 27 but under 75 years to drive, if outside these ages the person must be named on the policy. Best if casual drivers have a document giving them permission by the policy holder.
