Hi All, My first post so please be gentle.
My wife and I are now only a week away from our move to Quesada (excited and nervous at the same time)
We are renting for a couple months while looking for somewhere to rent long term.
Wife has been packing plastic storage boxes with the type of things you don;t normally get in rental property.
My concern is about what we can carry through the port (Bilbao) and then on our onward drive.
My questions are as follows. 1, how does boarder control work, does everything have to be inspected? 2 I have a few malt whisky's and wife has some prescription drugs(she will have a letter from Doc) will this be an issue? 3, Onward driving, how strict are the traffic police regarding loads, I'm going to try putting everything in the boot but what cant will be on the backseat covered and restrained with seat belt.
Thanks in advance for any Info.

We done the same journey 2 years ago & never had a problem, car or us were not inspected by anyone, passports were checked in Portsmouth & that was it,we had the back seats flat in our hatchback & all our belongings covered with a sheet ,don't worry & enjoy the journey.

Only thing I would say is be careful not to leave the car unattended anywhere on the journey while it is packed with personal belongings. Always make sure one of you is in the 'locked" car at all times if you need the facilities - Don't unlock the car or stop for anyone however genuine someone may seem.

Drive twice a year through France. Two large dogs in estate. Daughter asleep across the backseat.Dogs are not secured in the estate but we have a dog guard. We have got totally blacked out Windows. To keep the heat out for the dogs and secondly so nobody can see in.

Hi All
Thanks for your replies, Just for your information, the trip from Portsmouth to Quesada was pretty uneventful.
Never once stopped at customs, either in UK or Spain. We had the boot loaded along with the back seat.Everything on the back seat covered with a black sheet and not loaded above window height.
Boarder control in Bilbao was non-existent the guy took our passports and never even looked at them, just kept chatting to his mate.
Never mind we are here now. time to relax.
