carrying luggage in car.

can anyone give me a deinite answer about the rules regarding luggage in the car in spain.

Got to be carried in the boot

Unless it is an estate then it must be secured with straps.

Scubydoo, does the secured with straps rule apply if you use a hatchback with the back seats folded down, i.e. if filled with flat pack furniture or similar?

Anything you carry must be secure even animals if you have dogs in the back they should be secured in a cage or fastened with a harness if not, most people don't but if you get a tug then you could be done even a handbag on the passeger seat back or front is not allowed. if you had the car packed so that nothing can move you may be ok but anything that can move around is not allowed!
Just be aware then you are ok
