Changes to paperless driving licence for car hire

Changes to paperless driving licence for car hire

Postby Liz & Gordon » Sun May 10, 2015 7:22 pm

Just been made aware of changes to paperless driving licence (not driver card)

After 8th June holiday makers will have to log on to DVLA website and input their driver number and national insurance number .
The system will then generated a one-time pass code which the holidaymaker can give to the hire company when they arrive at the hire desk.

The code last 72hours

Hi,

There's some more information here about this on the link below - Interesting about the pass code but wonder what they mean by 'one-time'?

Paper counterpart of driving license to be scrapped by DVLA

No problem at all, it really doesn't matter and helps bring this to the attention of everyone again. Thanks for posting, I didn't actually read about the code and 72hrs limit before you posted it.

Made me jealous - 17 days! We need to get there but commitments are getting in the way for a while.

:(

Hi Jan,
'One-time' means that the code will be valid for this car hire only. When you come back you will need a new code to hire again.
You won't be able to use the code you got for the previous visit.
