Cyclists!!
Cyclists!!
by avoncliffe » Tue Aug 08, 2017 8:34 am
Hi All
Have I missed something here ?
Just turning right off the 905 towards Consume this morning when a swamp of cyclists speed off the cycle path on to the roundabout with NO respect for other road users not bothering to slow down and looking.
What gives them the right to behave like this and the hog all the road so no traffic and get past them.
Thought I read something recently on the N332 Facebook page about Police clamping down on this sort of behavior.
OK - Rant over....
Geoff

As far as I'm aware, the lead cyclist should wait for a gap in the traffic before proceeding but once the 'procession' is moving they should be treated as a single entity.
The trouble is that cyclists like to play 'molten lava' and if they stop they'd have to put their feet down.
Also, Lycra has a negative effect on the human cognitive system.

Yes that is fair enough but for the "lead" cyclist just to race out without looking is asking for trouble and of course, it won't be the cyclist fault!
Like you said Lyca has a negative effect

I have been ON the roundabout, actually about half way round when a block of morons, sorry cyclists, approached the roundabout with out stopping. They surrounded the car, shouting and holloring before cycling off
According to the police they have to observe the rules of the road, by law if there is a cycle lane they MUST use it. Pity the police don't enforce these rules. Several cyclists have been killed in recent weeks, you would think they would be a bit more careful
I have got a dash cam now, so if/when someone gets knocked off it will be recorded

Come on people, it's not like there's a group of cyclists every 2 minutes. Relax, enjoy your air-con and have some patience. There are many more things to up arms about and many more things you can actually do to make a difference. Stopping cyclists from cycling like they do is never going to happen. Next time a cyclist upsets you and you get the need to vent. Grab a bucket of water and clean some graffiti. Now that will make a difference.
