damage to a parked car

damage to a parked car

Postby eljacko » Fri Aug 18, 2017 9:50 am

Thank you very much to the unknown person who damaged my car yesterday whilst it was parked outside the Centro Municipal on Calle Blanca, Ciudad Quesada. The damage to the front of my car is quite severe and suggests it was caused by a vehicle travelling quite fast - which is strange as theoretically it should have been travelling in reverse.
The only other alternative is that the vehicle was travelling in the wrong direction up a one - way street ( not unusual here). The marks on my car suggest the damage was caused by a red car Naturally the driver didn't stop and I am now left with a damaged car and all the aggro of an insurance claim - all through no fault of my own.

Anyone have cctv in the area? Maybe worth asking also what did the police say?

Had the same thing with my car at Alicante airport after leaving it there for a couple of weeks.
Probably not as extensive as yours but damage was done to two sections at the front and side. Took it the garage by El Faro bar in Dona Pepa and they called a garage round to collect it. Took about 3 days and they did an excellent job for less than 200 euro which avoided the naus with the insurance company. Paint was matched perfectly.

Thanks to everybody for their replies.Have contacted insurers and am now waiting for the assessor. Tried to report it to police but nobody in Centro Municipal and in any case there were no witnesses. No CCTV in area either so will just have to grin and bear it.

have you thought about purchasing a traffic camera for your car? you can get them with motion sensors, so that anybody or anything passing close by when your parked activates the camera and you can check the loop when you get back in.

Agreed. I just fitted a camera to my car for the same reason. Don't get the cheapest ones though, because they can be unreliable and image quality, especially in the dark can make them useless for identifying a car licence plate. I hope you get your car fixed without too much hassle.

Such a good idea manxmunk, can you or any other members give advice on best camera and where to buy it?

I feel your pain eljacko! My husband and I have had 3 significant accidents in our cars in only 1 year in Spain - two "hit and runs" to my husband's car, so we also had to claim on our own insurance, and one rear shunt only 36 hours after picking my new car up from the dealership! In 30 years of driving in the UK, we've never experienced anything like this - what is it about Spain??!

look on Amazon, they advertised all different types, however the motion sensor camera was actually advertised on one of the home shopping channels.
