Do You Spain

Do You Spain

Postby VivaEspana » Thu Mar 30, 2017 3:27 pm

I've been using this company for several years now and no complaint. Any gripes are always to do with the individual car hire company.

I've just come back from Quesada and had already booked my car hire for 4wks and a day in June/July with Do You Spain. It came out at around £284 which I thought was ok for that time of year.

I was chatting with a guy at Alicante airport when I arrived last week (19/3) and he showed me that his voucher........his car hire for TWO MONTHS was just 2 Euros. I couldn't believe my eyes.

So sitting there the other night and wondering how people get all these bargains I put in for another quote and blow me down.......exactly the same hire company (RECORD), dates, car.........same everything came out at just £83. £200 cheaper!!!! Needless to say I cancelled the first one and kept this one. I'll try again next week:)

I would be very interested in the outcome of this, if it's too good to be true it usually is. Maybe the hire companies have a new scam.

@Valenciasman I think it's by getting you take out full insurance, but at that low rate, I would do anyway.

I've hired with Firefly in the past (through DoYouSpain) for 5 days for 6 Euros (end of February, full-to-full, NO insurance). No problems at all.

Was provided with a nearly brand-new Corsa - 750 miles on the clock!

No idea how they do it...but a friend of mine just booked for 13 days in August with Avis. Cost him £300. Avis through DoYouSpain for the same car for the same period was £126. Why he booked direct through Avis, I'll never know!!!

I booked with Goldcar in Feb for €2.85 per day. For 7 days including fuel after refund and full insurance the final amount was approx €280, about what I would normally expect.
Just goes to prove there are no bargains with car hire companies.

A friend uses Java Cars who meet them in the car park and the drop off is just as easy. They have a fair fuel policy and prices are reasonable. Cars are of good quality so I'm told

If you take out your own insurance, rather than use the hire companies it is FAR far cheaper, my policy is 39€ for a YEAR.

Agreed Clivespania...

I pay £37 per year (€43) for the insurance, so to get €2.85 a day up to €280, I'd have to stick €217 of fuel in the car!!!

I could drive back to the UK and back!!!!
