Just to add my two pennth worth, my daughter, SIL, and 3 children recently used DYS and had originally been asked for over 180 euros for 3 child seats for 1 weeks hire with their car.
If you are able to meet your family or friends at the airport, can I strongly advise you to tell them not to bother with this option but instead, go to the Hire Shop on the way to Torrevieja, before Habaneras, by Mrecadona, where they charge just 6 euros a week for bolster seats and I think it was 12 euros for the child seat. A huge saving!

There was also an issue regarding insurance, at the time of booking they took the Gold standard insurance policy which seemed to cover for everything. When they got their email confirmation they were horrified to see that the company wanted a 600 euro 'deposit' via their credit card. This would have depleted their spending money so when I got in touch on their behalf, they were told to cancel that policy and to take the Platinum policy when they arrived at the car desk, this was more expensive than the original Gold policy but they didn't have to have the 600 euro blocked on their card. Don't know if this is normal practise or not, but it was a horrible thing to go through jut days before they were due.
Having said all that, the car they had was stunning and they said they'd use the company again, but now they know what to look out for :-)

I used doyouspain in February and used dickmanns,I booked a full to full rental and used my annual 0 excess policy, they made it very clear that becouse I'd used my own 0 excess insurance that they would take 600 euros deposit and it would take at least a month to get it refunded a month has now passed with no refund so I'm contacting my credit card company tomorrow to complain,I just with I'd done my research as there are lots of bad reviews about dickmanns on the Internet and I also sent a complaint to doyouspain and I got a message back saying they would reply within 2 weeks so I googled there customer services reports and found lots of complaints about there customer service

I've just read the small print on my dickmanns rental paperwork and it states that the deposit will be returned on finishing of the contract plus it also says if their 0 excess insurance isn't taken that they will block the deposit off on the credit card I think I'm going to have an interesting conversation with my credit card company in the morning

Hi we have used Do You Spain for the last 6 ish years, they are not a hire company, what they do is a search for "The best deals", we have always used Dickmanns through this site, as the price is a better deal than through Dickmanns direct.
The plus point using as mentioned from Alicante Airport, Dickmanns office is 5 mins off site down the Airport road, there is a shuttle bus from the Airport bus station to the office every 15 mins or so at peak times, (phone if low season, but if you have supplied flight numbers and times of landing they will be expecting you and the driver will be aware of your arrival) The longest we have had to wait is about 20 mins, that was last August due to the number of arrivals using this service.
At the office we have always been dealt with within 10 mins.
We once used Goldcar at Alicante Airport arrivals, after joining the queue we finally left the car park nearly 2 hours later.

Recommend Dickmanns booked through Do You Spain, the Credit card deposit can take up to 3 weeks to be re credited to the account but think is standard?

Hope this is of use
Many regards

I've used doyouspain lots of times and used solmar and drivialia without a problem and always had my deposit returned within days,as soon as I told the dickmanns receptionist that I had my own 0 excess insurance he became very pushy at trying to sell his own insurance and after telling him no a few times he then said you won't get your deposit back for 20 working days becouse it's how the banks work in Spain,I'm now awaiting a reply from dickmanns why they still haven't returned my deposit I paid on the 5th of February

I've now had a reply from doyouspain stating the obvious that the deposit will be refunded shortly, dickmanns haven't even replied to the email I sent to them and now my credit card company are investigating the dispute

My credit card company have took action against dickmanns and I have a full tempory credit which dickmanns can appeal within 60 days,I never got any response from the email I sent to dickmanns so my advice is steer well clear of dickmanns they are a disgrace to the car rental industry

I settled on DYS after trying others; there were no problems with the others, it's just that I found DYS good value for money time after time. As others have mentioned, do read each hire company's terms and conditions as they can and do differ from company to company. DYS website is straightforward to use and I make the most of the options on the left hand side to ensure I am offered from companies situated at the airport and offering the full/full fuel option. I also have my own annual insurance policy and, because of this, some companies make a charge to my credit card at pick up and refund at return if the car is undamaged, and for the fuel in case I don't return the car with a full tank. Mostly there is a free cancellation policy up to the hire date (maybe up to 48 hrs before collection) which is great as you can sometimes find cheaper as it gets closer to your travel date and save even more money. I have had to use their customer services occasionally with various things and can't fault them so don't take too much notice of all the bad feedback left about them on websites - I had also read them and quite dreaded having to test out their customer service but so far, so good. In general people are more likely to take the time to 'warn' people about bad service than to praise what has gone well so don't rely too much on what others have said.... the proof of the pudding is in the eating and we don't all like eating the same thing! :D

One last thing - they give you a choice of car hire companies (and prices) to choose from. Go for a company you trust or feel you can trust; there are some I never go with as I've heard too much negativity from people I know and trust so wouldn't wish to risk it.

Give DYS a go, you may be pleasantly surprised :D

I agree with English roses comment dys are good for car hire and I've tried a few of the companies on there now and I'm going to stick with solmar as they have given me the best service.
