I use the Almoradi / San Bartolome ITV station. Go during siesta aas it is quieter.

Drive straight down beside the petrol pumps and back round the bottom. There are three lanes. Park on one of the stop lines, or behind another vehicle if there are any in front of you. Go into the office.

Paperwork needed:
Inspeccion Tecnica de Vehiculos & Permiso de Circulacion – loose, not in their folder
You don’t need SUMA, license, passport, padron etc.

At the counter hand over your paperwork and the fee €64.15 in my case. They give you a receipt which you need to hand back when the test is finished.

Wait until you are called, so keep your window open. They may call you by name or by registration number, and they tell you which lane to go into.

The tester tells you where to stop, takes vehicle details and a photo of the front of the car, gets you to open the bonnet for a look round – I was impressed that they even check the oil level. He then gets you to operate lights, horn, wipers and washers, and he checks seatbelts.

You then leave the car and move to the far end away from the test area whilst the tester checks exhaust emissions and brakes. Emission test is done at both low and high revs. They also record noise level.

He then drives it over the pit and you get back into the car. He goes down the pit and tells you to operate the brakes and then the steering, tells you to move it forward until he says stop, and you operate the brakes again. There’s a monitor beside your car where you can see pictures of the underside of the car when he uses his camera to scan it. They also rock the car about whilst they examine the suspension.

Then you move the car to the parking area, go back to the office and take a seat until they’ve processed your results. They call your name, you hand over the receipt, and they return your paperwork along with the test results and ITV sticker (if you’re lucky).

Very well put Martin the Artist.

It pays to learn various parts of the car, (windscreen wipers, rear, fog, indicator, reverse, brake, head, & side, & hazard lights etc) as he will shout out in what order that he wants you to switch them on & off. The first time I took my motorhome in for it's ITV, I did not know the Spanish names for these lights & so I resorted to switching all of them on in any old order, which only produced a very confused & frazzled technician from behind my vehicle!!!

Also, for those who have right hand drive vehicles, especially larger vans, campers, motorhomes, & trucks, here in Spain. The technician could stand to the left of your vehicle which might be in your mirror blind spot so knowing the names of the lights, as well as other parts of the vehicle, could come in handy!

Hope this helps,

When he asked me to turn on my foglights, I didn't realise I had any! (Never had to use them.)
And he had to show me where they were

go to almoradi/orihela they do it in english if you are english. No need to learn all those words, these tester guys are clever and just conduct the ITV in english. Mike
