Anyone know of any events in the area for the Day of the Dead at the end of October/beginning of November?!

Walnut, why would you think this is a joke? It looked like a serious question. The day of the dead is a religious festival, 1st November (All Saints Day in the Catholic church calendar ) While it is celebrated in Spain, in Rojales it seems fairly sedate, with families all visiting the family graves or vaults in the cemetery, lighting candles etc ( so the cemetery area gets really really busy, hard to get parked anywhere near! ) but am not aware of any big public processions etc. Seems more of a family occasion. Not like the big celebrations eg in Mexico, where it is a huge festival ( all about remembering ones ancestors and loved ones who have passed away etc ). But there may be more things happening in other parts of Spain, could be down to local traditions.

Why on earth would you consider this a joke?

My daughter has been learning about this in her Spanish lessons in the UK and I was going to ask the same thing as she would be very interested to see how this is celebrated in Spain. Shame that there doesn't seem to be anything local going on.
