Moors & Christians fiesta Rojales 2015 20th June to 5th July

The Department of Festivities has just this week released the details of the sensational Moors and Christians fiesta in Rojales this Summer.

The dates will be from 20th June to the 5th July 2015. The main events are as follows:

Saturday 27th June
20:00 The Flower Offering Parade from the Health Centre in Rojales


Monday 29th June
The Giants and Big Heads parade through the streets all day accompanied by the little clarinets and drums.
09:00 Parade by the La Lira Music Band through the streets of Rojales.
11:00 Children's games and activities on the Malecón del Soto by the river.
20:00 Mass in honour of San Pedro attended by the Fiesta Queens.
21:00 Solemn procession with the statue of San Pedro followed by a magnificent firework display.



THURSDAY 2nd JULY
At 8 p.m. Marksmen from the different Moors and Christians
Associations will begin shooting from the Rojales
Archaeological Museum’s Square.
At 9 p.m. Gunpowder Battle, speeches and the taking
of the castle.
Once the event is over, dancing in the various Kábilas.

FRIDAY 3rd JULY
At 10:30 p.m. CHARANGA (Summer Carnival Parade)
with the participation of all the Moors and Christians
Associations. They will parade in the following order:
Contrabandistas, Piratas, Benakíes, Almohades, Bereberes
and Tuareg
Once the parade is over, dancing in the various Kábilas.

SATURDAY 4th JULY
At 9 p.m. GRAND PARADE OF MOORS AND CHRISTIANS.
They will parade in the following order:
Moors: Tuareg (Captains), Benakíes, Almohades and
Bereberes. Christians: Contrabandistas and Piratas.
Once the parade is over, dancing in the various Kábilas.


SUNDAY 5th JULY
At 8 p.m. PARADE OF THE BANDS.
At 9 p.m. GRAND PARADE OF MOORS AND CHRISTIANS.
They will parade in the following order: Christians:
Contrabandistas and Piratas. Moors: Tuareg
(Captains), Benakíes, Almohades and Bereberes.
The floats of the Queens of Fiestas will close the parade.
Following this, dancing in the various Kábilas.

You can pick up a free programme of events from the information office in the Ayuntamiento (Town Hall) of Rojales.

The programme is also available in the Quesada Municiple Centre in Quesada.

Reminder - This main events for this fiesta are starting today and going on for the next few days until 5th July 2015 and it's going to be Hot Hot Hot!

Here's a reminder of the upcoming main events of the Rojales Fiesta this week from:

THURSDAY 2nd JULY
At 8 p.m. Marksmen from the different Moors and Christians
Associations will begin shooting from the Rojales

If the wind is in the right (or wrong :o) direction, even as far away as Dona Papa Consum area, ear plugs may be needed for sleeping. Personally I enjoy listening to the music beat from the 'after parties' being carried on the wind but sometimes it doesn't stop until 5am!

I was referring to the noise from the cannons and blunderbuses of course, but you're right about the music which may well go on till 7.30am on Frinight/Sat morning and Sat night/Sunday morning! :|

Hi Laura,

Thanks for the photos - I've never been to the 'Taking of the Castle' part of the fiesta.

Wish I could be there for this weekend. It's always such a spectacular parade!

Well done Laura for getting a shot of the canon as it shot!
Different this year with the geat Sofia Sanchez dance academy interpreting the actual battle parts.
Missed having the knight on his horse though.
