San Juan Fiesta in Alicante City June 2015
The Fiesta of San Juan 'Bonfires' (Hogueres) events in Alicante are from the 19th to 24th June 2015.
The full programme of events for each day is available from the local Ayuntamiento (Town Hall) or the Tourist offices. The main big event though will be on the 24th June 2015 with the The Burning (La Cremà), and this is the 'Summer Solstice' festival which is usually held at midnight but please check local times for all events.
The basic translation of the programme for the 24thJune 2015 is here:
Wednesday 24TH JUNE
08.00 hrs. “Despertá” (petards and music bands) in all quarters
13.00 hrs. Parade of Giants and Big Heads in the City of Alicante from Plaza del Ayuntamiento to Plaza de los Luceros
14.00 hrs. VII Session of the 28th Mas- cletás Contest. Pyrotechnic Company: Fuegos Artificiales Hermanos Ferrández Location: Plaza de los Luceros. [Spon- sored by: AMSTEL]
00.00 hrs. Monumental Palm Pyrotechnic Company: Fuegos Artifi- ciales Hermanos Ferrández. Location: Summit of Mount Benacantil Following: The Burning of the Official Foguera and Infant Official Foguera. Pyrotechnic Company: Alicantina de Focs i Artifici
Next: Burning of Fogueres, Infant Fogueres and Barraques in each district.
19.00 hrs. Bullfight and Bullfight on Horseback. Two Bulls of Fermín Bohórquez for Manuel Manzanares and four bulls of Núñez del Cuvillo for Enrique Ponce and José Mari Manzanares Location: Plaza de Toros of Alicante
20.00 hrs. Fogueres’ Official Mass Concatedral San Nicolás de Bari
For further information and advice for the Fiesta see this Tourist office link: http://www.alicanteturismo.com/en/proje ... juan-2015/
The Bonfire evening (24th June) which in held in most cities is a spectacular event and the fire services should be there to keep everyone safe. Apparently it can get a bit wet with the fireman damping down the fires with their hoses but that's all part of the fun!
Rosa Tours do a trip on the 24th for the fiesta (10 euros) pre-booking necessary: http://www.viajesrosatours.com/
Davids coaches also go there on the 24th, for 11 euros, see this link: http://www.coachtripsonline.com/spanish ... -juan.html
Both coach companies pick up locally (The Arches, Consum supermarket in Dona Pepa and various other pick up points)
Have a great time!
