Taking the Bridge Rojales 5th Feb 2017 Moors and Christians
Taking the Bridge Rojales 5th Feb 2017 Moors and Christians
by Martin the artist » Fri Jan 27, 2017 9:54 am
On Sunday 5th February from midday, the Moors and Christians companies will be staging their half year festival by 'Taking the Bridge'.
The comparsas will line up either side of the bridge then advance to meet in the middle where a battle will take place - mainly by dialogue with mock aggression and humour - until they reach a conclusion that a bridge is designed to link communities and symbolic of joining their arts and cultures.
So they then shake hands and everyone processes to the adjacent Malecon del Soto and celebrate with music and dancing.
I took the attached photos at last years event.
