Well done Vueling airlines...

Well done Vueling airlines...

Postby Shiva » Wed Jun 28, 2017 1:38 pm

Just back from a week in Benimar, flew Vueling Edinburgh to Alicante return. Got reasonable fares for this time of year. Unfortunately hit a problem on the outward flight last Tuesday as they had problems with a plane on the Alicante-Edinburgh 1700 flight which also then meant our 20.15pm Edinburgh to Alicante flight was delayed ... by a horrible 5 hours! ( Finally got to Benimar around 6am...) Not exactly fun or what you want... BUT ....I submitted my compensation claim online the next day via Vueling website, got an instant acknowledgement and they simply wanted my bank details. Checked this morning and 400 euros has been paid to me by Vueling. No fuss, no prevarications, just like that.

Yes I know under EU regulations ( another benefit of the EU ....) they are obliged to make recompense for delays over 3 hours but they made it so so easy to get it and made no fuss . SO WELL DONE VUELING.

Highly recommend them... their flights are usually no problem, the crew are always really pleasant and seats are a bit more roomy than some other low cost airlines..... and they can do some great bargains esp during winter. Always worth checking them out for your travel...

I agree Shiva. We always fly Vueling now from Cardiff to Alicante and have always had a good flight.

Their website is really easy to use and they fly at decent times of the day instead of late at night like Easyjet and Ryanair. We've booked flights out in October, returning just before Christmas for a total cost of €122 for both of us.

Hi Shirley Anne, it might depend how you put the claim in as to how long it takes? I did it online on their website - Go to bottom righthand for 'Customer Services' , Choose 'Contact ' and you get the choices to make a claim - select for a Delay, , Over 3 hours etc , next page asks for details of Flight number etc and has a comment box. In the 'comment box ' I put " I am making a claim for compensation under EC 261/2004 for long delay. The delay was 5 hours and added a wee bit about how I had to make extra taxi arrangements etc as a result as well as it not being very pleasant to have to wait so long " ( the latter is not essential to say, just thought I should say something ) But the important EU regulation to quote is EC 261/2004. When I then submitted all that online, I got an instant acknowledgement to my email . Then the next day I got an email asking for my bank details with a code to do it via the website so the details would be submitted securely. I did this, and it has all happened like they said.

Because they are a Spanish airline it made most sense ( to me) to give them a euro bank account as I will always need euros for Spain and that means there would be no deductions anywhere for bank charges. If you don't have a Euro bank account I m sure you can just give a Uk sterling account and it would be sent there, but there might possibly be some currency change fees levied by the bank to change it to £.

It also might be I got it quicker because it was euro to euro.

Sorry but Vueling are a nightmare, I had flights from Edinburgh booked from Oct to March, they have cancelled all direct flights and offered me via Barcelona, which made it an 10 hour trip, I opted for the refund and while I have had some money after many e mails I've still not had all flights refunded, had other issue previous, so no more Vueling for me, customer service has to be worst possible.........

Clearly, everyone can have a different experience depending on when they fly and every flight is a different proposition. I flew regularly all last winter ( October - March) between Edinburgh and Alicante with Vueling, sometimes at ludicrously low prices ( £9.99 base flight price i.e hand luggage only, random seat allocation) with no problems at all. I had one Alicante - Birmingham flight ( I travel a lot, to different places ) cancelled and was offered a reroute via Barcelona or refund, the times did not suit and that was a wee bit annoying but given that I had only paid the grand sum of £9.99 for the flight it did not strike me as worth complaining too much about... I would be very disappointed if ( what you seem to be suggesting) Vueling will no longer be flying from Edinburgh to Alicante between October - March in the future - is that what you are saying? That from October 2017 - March 2018 Vueling will not be flying direct?

http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/travel/flight-delaysMy understanding is that it is per person and not per booking. See Martin Lewis and Money Saving Expert for advice:
