You are more likely to be bitten by Mosquitoes if you have damp plants or hedges in your garden that attract them. Also standing water. We lived near the Salt Lakes for 7 years and were never bitten as we werent on the ground floor and only had Cactus plants. They do attack at night so that is another thing to think about if you like Dining out.

I also Have bad reactions to mozzie bites, I get huge blisters and swelling for days. Unfortunately mozzies will get you where ever you are, I've been to many exotic islands where 'mozzie' s aren't a problem' and they still seem to find me. I find taking vitamin b helps but certainly won't repel them. Lakes or no lakes they live in Spain so it's a way of life.

Greta1471, you might also think about including marmite in your diet on a daily basis, it does actually help.

If you get bitten stand a teaspoon into a cup of boiling water and apply heated spoon to affected area as hot as you can stand the spoon onto skin.
It sounds ridiculous but it really does work and and it takes away the swelling and itching I was quite amazed at the results also saves you Euros these bite sticks.

I believe that mosquito lava do not breed in salt water so being near salt lakes is not an issue. The lava need only 6 days in water before they fly. Puddles after rain can provide this.
