Any help/advice please on living in El Raso, quite fancy the urbanisation when we visited recently and coming back in May. There weren't many supermarkets near by is this a problem?
Whats the crime rate like in this area?

Hi jules. I don't live on El raso but my friend does. She doesn't drive ( although her hubby home mist weekends). She can walk to the Sunday market (lemon tree I think). She says she can get all her fruit, salad and veg fir the week. Plus they have a bodega ( so wine sorted) and they have stalls selling spit roast chickens. Ribs. Big pans of paella etc. She loves living on el raso. Looks to be quite a few bars and restaurants, and looks very much on the flat.
My friend says that there is a couple of shops that sell the basics and regular bus service into guardamar, so if you need to go to town and you don't drive then that is handy too. We actually ate at stan and ollies last Wednesday and the food was good. I have also visited the market and it's huge. Lots n lots on offer. I truly hope somebody more in the know can help you further, but didn't want your post to get lost so wanted to bump it up. Good luck and enjoy your time when you come over in may. Regards. Dawn

We've owned on El Raso since 2005 and moved here permanently in January 2014.

It is right beside the Lemon Tree Market , which is huge and as already posted you can easily stock up on all your fruit and veg for the wee at very reasonable cost.Slight drawback - the roads in and around get VERY busy on a Sunday.

There is a regular bus service from the urb to Guardamar in one direction and Moncayo in the other (occasionally continues to Pinomar). It's not the most regular service in the world and stops at 9:30 and doesn't run on weekends in the winter months. There is another bus service that runs along the Lemon Tree Road between Guardamar and (I think) Orihuela but I'm not sure if it actually stops at El Raso.

The commercial centre has 4 restaurants, Stan and Ollies, El Raso Restaurant, The Hot Stone and Cillies. There are another 3 restaurants on the Lemon Tree Road - El Limonar / The Lemon Tree, Manolos and Los Rosales. There are also four bars - The Med, Rayz, Ruby's and AJ's. There is also a mini market, a bit pricy but a life-saver if you run out of anything, a vet's and a couple of estate agents.

There is new development slowly starting at the bottom of the urb, closer to the lake. One development is nearing completion, another was started but seems to have stalled and I just noticed today a sales office has appeared on one of the vacant plots.

The urb is right beside the village of El Campico. It has a surprising range of facilities, church, doctor's surgery on Tuesdays and Thursdays, open-air theatre and multi-sports court. There;s also a fruit wholesalers who will sell you fruit if you ask nicely! There used to b a village school but it closed due to lack of children :-(

In sumary, we like El Raso - it's handy for just about all the local towns, it has a nice country feel to it, the houses are attractive and it has a good choice of bars and restaurants within walking distance.

Hope this helps.

We have lived on El Raso for 3 years and find it a great place for facilities, of all kinds.
Very friendly bars, but very peaceful if that is what you want. We spent 2 years visiting and renting in this
area prior to buying, and we think that El Raso comes out tops every time.

Hi Jayne.

We bought in El Raso last year. My experience is that the mosquito issue is only the same as anywhere else. Can't say I've been bitten half to death with them!

Just get hold of a reasonable deterrent such as Incognito spray (http://www.dolphinfitness.co.uk/en/inco ... 0-ml/55920) or the lemon baby-water stuff that a few people have recommended!

Nearest reasonably sized supermarket would be Consum in Dona Pepa I guess.

Can't comment about the buses as we haven't used them yet!
