what to do, where to go
what to do, where to go

We are at a loss to know what to do. This is a wing and a prayer topic really in the hope that it helps our search. We have just about sold our home and we are due to leave mid March. Our sale has took us a bit by surprise and when we sat down to talk about our next move we have come unstuck. Our plan is to downsize, we have to stay in the Valencia and were thinking of going away to the country but it always keeps coming back to weather. Here on the coast we have the wonderful breezes and weather extremes are less but this we have decided will be or last move into retirement so we so want to get it right. We do find torrevieja getting busier each summer for sure and at times you cant move at times. So all we want is a quieter life.
Guys your combined knowledge is way better than ours if you have any thoughts.
thank you

We had originally planned to buy a finca in Spain but after careful thought decided against it. The main problem is that whilst it would have been fine for now (and we love the thought of being self-sufficient), the isolation may cause problems when we are older. If the OP is looking for somewhere that they want to stay in ad-infinitum then it makes sense to have neighbours and means of transport, be it private or public, nearby if not near a shop/bar etc. We have bought an apartment on a quiet community in Quesada where you can keep yourselves to yourselves or socialise whichever way you are inclined.

There is no isolation we have neighbours all round but not joined on We have a 2500 sqm plot full of oranges and olives, whats not to like

You are both right in what you say. We have even proposed an old town, house. I have no issue at 200 for the right place. We can't leave it too long though. Maybe once we can find the where then we can look at the where there

Jpeg, I admire you for living what was always our dream and the idea of orchards etc is idyllic. We are now in our early 60's with health issues and have decided it just isnt for us any longer.
nigelandkath, you would probably find Quesada itself too busy but there are some lovely smaller urbs close by such as El Raso, Lo Pepin, Lo Crispin, Pueblo Bravo etc. Then slightly further inland are small predominantly Spanish villages. You probably need to drive around and check out which area you like first, you may well be surprised.
