Provided she doesn't have a fever she will be fine. The flu vaccine is an inactive (not live) jab so it can't pass any virus on to you.
If she has a fever then wait 24 hours until after it has gone.

Turn up, ask the nurse who gives the jabs advice.

Just be careful!
Waiting a few days won't hurt.
Always better to be safe than sorry.

My doctor in the UK was a good friend and she refused to give me the flu jabs and other things she didn't approve of. So glad about that now as I have made progress in learning about orthodox medication....do research!

I have had flu jabs every year for about 40 years. I have never had flu and never seen anyone be ill after having the jab..

Last year I missed it simply because I forgot...

..I got flu.. not a cold... real flu.. I was sick, unable to eat, could hardly walk and it took at least a month to get over it...

I had one this year.. :D

Are there, like in the U.K., any chemists/pharmacies that do flu jabs 'over the counter' or are they only available at the surgery?

What is she, a doctor of philosophy or something? She couldn't be a real medical doctor giving such terrible advice as that. Flu can be life threatening especially for those with weakened immune systems like the elderly. To rely on crushed up daisies or vitamins (of which we should get plenty on a proper diet) is ridiculous. The flu vaccine will not prevent you from getting flu. It, will, however, reduce the severity of the symptoms and anyone who has really had the flu, not just a heavy cold, will verify that it can be really nasty.
