Pharmacia ? doctors

I have developed a nasty urine/kidney infection. Can I go straight to the pharmacy or do I need a doctors appointment. Thanks

You can get antibiotics in pharmacies in Benijofar and La Zenia

Go to the pharmacy and they may be able to help. On the other hand, they may tell you to go to the GP. At least you'll get an appointment virtually straight away.

Thanks for the prompt reply will try the pharmacia in Benijofar. Hate going to the doctors without the language barrier. Do they speak english in the pharmacia? Spanish very limited. Thanks

Yes they do speak English in most local pharmacies. The one on the canal road near the Quesada medical centre is also always very helpful.

Personally unless it is an emergency, I would always ask in the Farmacia first as they are generally very good and can help with more than they can in the UK. The UK has IMO a few too many restrictions on over the counter products that Spain sensibly doesn't.

There is no fixed price for prescriptions in Spain. You pay a percentage of the cost depending on your residential status and age. Anything from zero to 60% of the cost.
