If you have the repeat part of your prescription, just go to a pharmacy (the Canal one in Doña Pepa opposite Gama is very good) and they will give it to you although you will have to pay full price. If you haven't got the prescription but know the strength, have a word and they will help you. If they are expensive, keep the receipt and you can claim it back from the NHS when you get back to UK.

I try to keep the packaging of my medicines as this helps when attempting to buy the correct dosage in the farmacia. We extended our stay last year and my husband was short of blood pressure tablets and colestral too, the chemist wanted to know the dosage and he had no idea so I ''phoned our chemist at home and he was able to tell me the details necessary.
When attempting to buy antibiotics here, always take an old carton with you otherwise, they may not give you antibiotics but tell you to go and see a doctor.
Hope you get sorted out. Best wishes.

We were told we could reclaim the cost back in the UK for prescription medicines. However, when we put in a claim it was rejected because it wasn't with a current prescription from a GP here in Spain (I evidently got something wrong). So now we get Mum's repeat prescriptions collected in UK by a friend who forwards them to us here. For anything else we go to a GP here, but generally the cost of the prescription items is so low that it is not worth claiming.

Yes, you can buy antibiotics over the counter here and many others..even prednisolone...

But you need to know the name and strength...
