Moving to Quesada

Hi Roy, I think that is what we are intending to do. Look to rent for a few months and as you say you can attend any meetings or if you are not happy about something it can be dealt with quicker. Also will need to get furniture too as not bringing a lot of stuff over, furniture wise, only my bed lol, and our personal belongings but it still amounts to a fair bit. You don't realise what you have collected over the years until you start packing.

That is how we felt when we went there. We were shown quite a few plots, a lot of different areas around the Oriheula Coast and quite a lot of houses both new and old. As soon as I walked into a place I knew right away it wasn't for me so some I didn't even bother looking round. So hopefully all will be ok with our property. As for losing value, we don't intend moving until we are carried out in our boxes  :P ;)

Just bear in mind that it is extremely unlikely that you'll both be 'carried out in your boxes' at the same time, so one of you will have to face-up to living there alone for a while.
My late wife didn't drive and would, i think, have had quite a struggle if i'd 'gone first'

And i don't know your ages, but it is also worth considering how you will cope when/if you are too decrepit to look after yourself ... 'social services' here are somewhat limited .... some jobs which you can do comfortably now (cutting hedges, humping gas bottles, etc) may sooner or later be beyond your abilities. (If you have plenty of money, that should be less of a problem :) )

It's a lovely place to live in so many ways, but, like everywhere, does have its drawbacks. It's easy to be like the Brexiters and say "Everything will be all right!"

Thanks RogerB. Hopefully that wont happen for a long time but we never know what is ahead of us. Just taking it a step at a time just now and have been in touch with various people for advice.

Also the way the NHS is heading here in the UK if they dont buck up their ideas there soon wont be one.

Hi,

My Husband and I have also bought a villa on that plot of land right over the other side from the Pylon. We love our villa and the area but have had lots of problems with Justo Quesada. My advice would be don't believe anything they say! We have learnt this the hard way! The completion date on our villa kept changing time and time again. They then told us our villa was ready, took our final payment and then we found out that the super duper aerothermia system they had fitted didn't work! Therefore we couldn't stay in the villa we had just bought. We had to pay for alternative villas, extra flights and the problems just keep coming up and they did absolutely nothing to help us. They are only nice when they want your money! We have had to stay in the villa with no hot water and air con. Also the last time we stayed there the bathroom ceiling collapsed on my Husband! After complaining, instead of apologies we received an email saying that any further correspondence should be via lawyers! We have now had to hire a lawyer and still haven't had a response from them over a month later. We have a broken shutter on our main door out to the terrace, no bathroom ceiling and a list of snags that haven't been fixed! Sorry to be doom and gloom but I wouldn't want anyone else to go through what we've gone through.

Thanks for the info. I will be keeping an eye on them and MASA as well. Our house will get started next year some time so have a wee bit to go yet. If things are wrong with our house i will stage a sit in at their office lol. Hopefully we will move over a couple of months before house is ready to keep an eye on things and will hound the hell out of them if they dont get it right. Also they wont get their final payment if things are wrong. Hope you get your problems sorted out soon. Did u go through MASA and Maria from Juesto Quesada?

Is there any way you could appoint a local guy to act as your agent and inspect the work as it progresses and report back to you in the uk ?

The MASA rep is supposed to be doing that. So are the office staff. Pictures will be taken and sent to us as the building progresses and reports wil be sent to us also.

Hi Lorna,

We bought our villa through a local agent and dealt directly with Maria. She was lovely at the start but when we started questioning things that weren't right instead of resolving problems she went on the defence! Her customer service skills are not the best! My advice would be to keep an eye on things and try to keep on the right side of her as she is less likely to help you if you argue with her. Diplomacy is the key! Lol! We made several trips over to view the villa as it was being built and noticed quite a few vital things that were different from the spec. They didn't tell us that the aerothemia system wasn't working until after we paid our final payment. We just assumed it had been commissioned. Make sure that you are shown how to use everything before you hand over your last payment.

I hope everything goes smoothly for you. I'm sure you will be fine. We look forward to meeting you at some point. All the current neighbours are lovely and it's a great area :)

Have to agree with Carly and Mick, this is not a reputable company. We had a villa built 9 yrs ago by them and had so many problems that my husband asked them to buy it back.Of course they refused, they had our money so they didn't care. Our snag list was never completed. I could go on but don't want to depress you any more. Get an independant lawyer!Good Luck.

Thanks both for your comments which I will take on board. We have an independent lawyer lined up. According to MASA there are three inspections, Justo Quesada, MASA and then us before the final payment is made. I will make sure that everything is explained to us before handing over the final payment. I work in a legal office so when it comes to getting things done I can be quite stubborn and will not let things lie until they have been taken care of.

It sounds a nice area. There have been a few people around where we will be living who have commented on this topic and they all seem lovely. We will need to get a big party arranged so we can meet everyone!! :D :D :D
