Use hot water to soften the plastic to enable to get it apart . It seems as tho you have one of the cheap plastic pumped models which are throwaway machines if so do not waste to much money on it , go buy a quality model [ with a metal body and if possible a bronze pumphead ] which will last a long time and can be repaired .

I have bought several machines for everyday use in the past , and will only buy machines with Interpump internals .
