Oven bottom muffins

anyone know where to buy oven bottom muffins(barm cakes). I just want a proper bacon barm.

Iceland do them

Benjy, I'm surprised at the lack of response to this post, our local radio station occassionly bring this subject up and the station is swamped with listeners ideas of the perfect bacon butty. My preference, two hot buttered slices of thick toast, crispy bacon and either brown sauce or english mustard, (none of your girly ketchup)

TOTALLY AGREE about the ketchup. Gotta be brown.

Apparently as well as Iceland, Johnsons in Quesada do them. Our friends who come from up North told me when I asked what a Barm cake was LOL.
Always hear the actors on Coronation Street ask for them and didn't realise they are what we Southerners call a big bap.
But why call a bap/roll a cake ?

Yes try Johnsons they are near the half way house and by the petrol station in Quesada.

Firstly Jan, never heard of barm cakes?? you' got to be a southern softie, and check Icelands freezers, they usually have them in there.

To be honest I've never heard of barm cakes, or even oven bottom muffins before either. What are they, a bread roll?
