selling items then not answering queries

Does anyone else have this problem? In the last month I have asked about 3 items for sale including sending e mails and private messages..but had no response.
With due respect if you advertise something please respond to questions or remove or add sold to the advert, when you dont respond it sort of wastes everyones time

I have advertised items and had replies saying PM has been sent but nothing shows in my inbox

If they say that then they are not doing the PM correct. You as the seller can always email that person, rather than miss a sale, to say you didn't get their pm and then they can email you back.

I have never had a notification of queries on the items I have sold or are selling despite notifying the forum.I look here daily to see if I have any messages if I miss them I am sorry but I have tried to rectify this problem. I cannot be the only one this is happening too.I do not receive notification of pm either.

Why not tell us your problem and we can help you? You haven't notified us about it yet.

If you see your home page, where it says "Welcome back djw", it will tell you if you have any new PMs -"0 new messages" or "1 or 2 new messages" whether you get notifications or not, for any reason.

If there are no new messages there, then you've already read them or there aren't any new ones.

Problems with PM's are always user problems, not the forum, but we understand that some new members may not know how to use them and say they have sent one when possibly they haven't sent it properly.

For new members and those who only use the forum infrequently we always say to see all our help topics on Helpful guides on how to use the forum on the Home page:

As I said previously, the seller can always email the person who says they sent a PM, rather than miss a sale, to say you didn't get their pm and then they can email you back.

I think we have to accept that this happens! Annoying as it is some people just can't be bothered or maybe just forget. But it is beneficial to all of us that we can put ads on the forum and that we get the opportunity to view others as well. It would be too difficult for Jan to monitor everything, we are lucky to have such a good forum for discussion and free advertising.

Out of interest - We did have a member who was mistakenly sending PM's to the wrong person on a 'for sale' topic and the person who received them said to me 'why am I getting PMs asking me about this item when I only replied to the seller on the topic'. The member sending the PM had been clicking on the second person on the topic and not the first. We sorted that out but it it's the sort of mistake that can happen.

I have to say, recently I have bought/ enquired about several items, and the communication and PM system have been great, really pleased with the ease of the forum.
