Wanted : Perfectionist carpenter

I too expect perfection.........but shouldn't that be the standard anyway. Where's the pride in people's work!


I've never in my life experienced the frustration that I have here with workmen not turning up or doing bad work.

I won't name names, but this week I had a guy pre-arranged long before I came out to do work. Bless him, he actually turned up on the day to tell me that he was too ill to do the job. I hope he's better soon as he's a lovely guy.

I also had an appointment with a friend that he'd recommended as a handyman. He answered texts and emails when and if he felt like it. So he turns up at my house on two occasions .......... just to look at the blind fittings. Full of problems and no solutions. By the way, they're regular Venetian blinds with universal fittings, so straight forward. He could have fitted to dang things the time he stood there chatting about them. So we agreed another day for him to actually do the work and he doesn't turn up. I texted asking what time he would be here. 'I can't come as I have a cracked windscreen'. Ok, lets arrange for several days later. He doesn't turn up and when I texted he said 'I've still got a cracked windscreen'. I said forget it. He only lives about a mile away.

The worst experience has been my brand new bathroom. What a load of cowboys! They've left cracked tiles and lots of dodgy work. I've paid in full, silly me. They covered up their damage so it wasn't noticed until they'd gone and I'd used the bathroom. I'm going to take legal action but I'd prefer it if he came and sorted it out. If he doesn't then I'll spread the word like wildfire with the name of him and his company as he tells me he does a lot of work in Quesada.

Sounds dramatic but I feel drained from the whole experience.

I quite agree had very similar experience with a new kitchen (company in torrevieja), provision and workmanship appalling, still waiting 3 years down the line for them to rectify, worst case of manyana, fitter from Lo crisp in even works for himself ! Can't understand how he manages to sleep at night !
