Yet another person looking for work!

Postby MriGrout » Wed Mar 23, 2016 4:14 pm

Hello, my husband and I have just moved to the area and were wondering if there were any places looking for workers who could start immediately? I have three years of waitressing experience in America and three months in a warehouse. My husband (he's British) used to work as an outdoor instructor for a number of years, shop sales, and a number of customer service roles.

However, will take pretty much anything. (:

Thanks!

I dont think you are allowed to work unless you are resident. Big fine for companies that employ anyone unless resident.

Ah, thought you were allowed to work if you were part of the EU (husband is British) or family member of EU? Will get the residency card sorted first then for me, but will my partner be able to work first here without it? Or do we both have to get one?

I believe you can only work if you are resident.

You do not need a Residencia to Work in Spain,an employer employs you as long as you have an nie and ss number.Having worked in Spain for 18 years I know this to be correct.

Surely the only work you can get without residency is temporary. If you stay over six months you have to be resident. An employer faces a serious fine employing anyone over six months without residency.

We're looking to only stay for six months (summer season), so would more than likely work for less than six. I don't want to get any businesses in trouble. We're currently working through the process of getting residencia cards and NIE numbers, but have to wait until after the holidays to register with immigration. However, I haven't come across a SS number. What is this?

I believe the SS number is supplied by the employ, this is the important number, gives heath cover.

Valenciasman, your word "surely" regarding working people in Spain would certainly be based on your concept of how you think it should be??? This is how it goes.....a 3 month contract is given,it expires, employees on paper leave Spain, after a month they get another contract etcetera etcetera.
Has valenciasman worked in Spain?
