Independent Quesada

I was wondering if we could see if there is any enthusiasm for going independent? We could take all the best bits from the UK like driving on the left, regular bin collections actually from our properties 4 wheelies each, more Drive Thrus,no road tolls, more traffic queues and no sun.
We could even make Jan our President.

Shops (apart from supermarkets) closing at 6 (late night opening on Thursday at 8). We could have a Majestic wine shop and buy wine at 10 quid a bottle (7 for the cheap table wine). The bin collections direct from the house sound good but doubt if one collection every three weeks would be a good idea in the Summer (or now, even).
Oh, and instead of paying a couple of hundred euro a year for council tax we could pay that every month.
On second thoughts...........

I love the Spanish culture and Quesada and spend my time in UK and Spain but would be interested in what you mean by the "draconian and antiquated life style" ...please explain?. Not politics please but life style?

I enjoy the laid back manana slightly antiquated lifestyle in Spain but I do appreciate, when in the UK, the faster pace more up to date and get things done quicker way of life. Not easy to explain but living in the two places it's more obvious.

It is a well known fact that Spain has always been a good few years behind the UK in certain things (although it is catching up faster these days) and that's its charm for me and certainly not a critisism.

UK ..'draconian and antiquated life style' certainly not!

Errr best bits of the UK - 'driving on the left' - can't say I think that ones important as would be a bit of a pain when driving outside of Quesada in the rest of Spain  and Europe for that matter...

UK can keep it's council tax rates as well. I'm happy with the 1/6th or suchlike I pay now compared to back home.

Don't blame you, though it is nice to have the option of some things from home - food being one such thing...We live in a little village 10 mins from Quesada population 600 - farming village, it is like a world away, but I like it - fields to walk the dog, friendly Spanish & expats mix in the local bars / restaurants - quiet. It does in some ways feel antiquated / disorganised in general when compared to me living previously in London. It's all the better for it :D
