Nuisance Dogs

Nuisance Dogs

Postby KimmiRocks » Thu Jun 14, 2012 9:16 pm

Hi guys. I'm going out to my place on Lo Marabu next week and as I only get out there once a year, I'm very excited, especially as I'm taking my old mum and family members with me for the first time.

Anyway, I've been told today that the new tenants adjoining me have five barking dogs in one of the tiny bungalows and they have both been arrested twice in the last six weeks for domestic violence against each other. Great! To be honest, I don't care what they do to each other but I'm really stressing about five dogs barking the whole time we're there.

So my question is this. If that happens, who should I call? Don't say Ghostbusters:) Is there anything that I can do to stop it ruining our holiday?

Many thanks, Kim

The only way is a Denuncia through the Community President but by the time that gets around your holiday is over.

It is shameful how people have these animals and then leave them all day to bark and disturb the peace of others.

I wish you luck, but believe you may have to bite the bullet on this one.

Do you know if it is a private let - or through a letting agent? If it is a private let, do you know the owner (they may not realise what is going on) or speak to the letting agent.
As barking dogs must be affecting other people - especially that sort of number - what are other people doing about it? I would have thought that someone would have started some complaint by now!
Just wonder if there is something like the RSPCA who could come in and check the situation!

Was it the president who had to call in the police regarding the domestic violence? Just wonder if there is any sort of leverage there owing to existing problems?

I know that people like animals for company - but 5??

Hi Kim,
At the last meeting this problem came up and by the sound of it, it may be the same house. There were some very heated complaints and the President said he would contact the relevant authorities to do his best to get it sorted. The dogs' welfare was a concern and also there are community laws being broken too, as there is a limit on the number of dogs allowed in each property. It has been recorded in the meeting minutes, if you have a copy, with the address and house number.
Therefore, as far as I know, the wheels are in motion but wheels run slower in Spain as we all know.
There is always the email channel open with the president, as you are obviously going to be affected by this when you get there. You could, if you want, email him before you go and find out what, if anything, has or is being done about your adjoining property.

If you need a copy of the minutes, let me know and I will privately email them to you.

Jan.

Yes, thanks Sandra. I had visions of me turning up like Mrs Bucket at Onslow's house, making my way through the barking dogs and rubbish. lol
