Paralympics

Paralympics

Very much off topic, but both Mally and I went to the Olympic Park yesterday. Very uplifting and like a battery charge for patriotism.

I think that the Games have made a lot of people, who weren't previously interested in sport, really start to appreciate what our athletes do. I was amazed, and pleased, about all the support that there was - even prior to the games when the torch was being carried from town to town.

I'd love to get up to Stratford and visit the site - it looks marvellous on the TV, but probably far better in reality.

Regeretably Sandra, when the non games going public get on the site sometime in 2013, much of it will be gone. Remembering that area for what it was and what it is now, I could not believe the transformation.

Glad you enjoyed it Glyn. The weather has been lovely too. All the photos, over the last few weeks, mostly with that wonderful blue sky must be so uplifting for the UK tourist industry!

My family all went to both the Olympics & Paralympics at the park & other venues in London. They said the atmosphere was electric and the Olympic park was a sight to see. All the photos are amazing. Living within 20 minutes by train to London we have been lucky to be able to go without it being a major journey - The 'included' All Zone travel cards were a boon.

I can't believe how many of our neighbours, friends & family also went. I hardly know anyone who didn't actually go, except me. I have been dragged along to so many sporting events over the years that these days I tend to stand my ground and refuse to go - possibly this was one of those rare occasions I should have given in.

The TV coverage has been brilliant though and, as Sandra says, it has brought an interest in sport to some of us who until now were not interested. It has even seen me screaming my support from the sofa!
