Rick Stein's Spanish Christmas
Rick Stein's Spanish Christmas
by Jan » Mon Dec 19, 2011 11:47 pm
For anyone interested in Spanish Christmas recipes, the programme "Rick Stein's Spanish Christmas" is being shown on BBC2 Wednesday 21st December at 9.30pm - Repeated Thurs 22nd 11am. The Christmas fare, described below, sounds delicious!
"Having spent his last series travelling across Spain, sampling classic dishes from the country's rural regions, Rick Stein now draws culinary inspiration from that trip to create a series of dinner-table feasts that would befit any Spanish yuletide celebration. The chef prepares clams with serrano ham and oloroso sherry, lamb-stuffed aubergines with Moorish spices, chicken with saffron and pine nuts, and orange caramel creams."

You're welcome Glyn. Thought it might be of particular interest to those in Spain at Christmas, where the ingredients are more easily available.
Would be nice to know if anyone does cook their Christmas dinner Rick Stein's way or in a traditionally Spanish way. It sounds a lot more fun than our Turkey dinners in the UK - I would love to cook something more adventurous like that but not sure my lot would appreciate it. I will watch and salivate anyway

Hi Jan,
I watched Rick's show and was really impressed with the cod dish. As you said your lot and our lot wouldn't appreciate it. When we get back to Spain we'll definatley try it.

Hi Glyn,
I've recorded it to watch later but, like you, will probably try some of the recipes when in Spain next time - only one or two though - don't want 'im indoors liking it too much, as eating out & not much cooking is a big part of the enjoyment of having a holiday home for me

We love Quesada fish & chips too Glyn - Can't beat the size of those fish and the batter is to die for! We often get the Sunday special as a take-way. It's good value at 5 euro for fish, chips & peas.
