SQUATTERS!!
SQUATTERS!!
by Scipio » Wed May 09, 2018 4:01 am
Everybody please be vigilant.
There are increasing numbers of squatters operating along the costa Blanca and surrounding areas.
Typically they break in.
Repair the break in.
Change the locks or search for spare keys inside the house.
Make the house look like it is theirs by changing fixtures and fittings, furniture even lighting.
A friend of mine was recently confronted with guns and knives when he checked on a friends house.
You do not want them in your area.

This was Royal Park Los Altos but they are scouring the area for empty properties.
They establish themselves in one property that is easily defended then branch out taking over others.
Once in they are protected by all sorts of laws and are very difficult to get rid of.

Being vigilant won't really stop them though. We have an ex pilot house in Atalaya Park which
has been occupied by alleged 'squatters'. Police not interested. Apparently the owners (whoever they are)
have been informed by our administrators but nothing seems to be happening. Not looking good I'm afraid.

You need to go to a lawyer here in Spain. They will take a court proceeding straight away and the court will order the "squatters" to appear. If they don't, the judge will issue a "usurpation" order for them to be removed.
The police cannot act unless they see them actually breaking in. The police can only remove them once the "usurpation" order has been issued.
I believe it's the same in UK and they call it an interim possession order if you report it within 28 days or a claim for possession if it's been over 28 days or damage has occurred.

I'm not sure this refers to Atalaya Park, Benijofar, possibly one of the Atalayas in Rojales? Atalaya Park Benijofar doesn't have Administrators.
