I would beg to differ on your comment regarding riding a 125cc on your English license, i had been doing exactly that for a few years until i exchanged my UK license for a Spanish one. Trafico in Alicante advised me very strongly that you can't. YES you can once you change to a Spanish license BUT your entitlement on your English license remains as it were in the UK, 50cc ONLY.
I'm sure people will disagree but that is what i was told by the "officials" in trafico.

Dave

I think the traffic o person you spoke to was wrong, and the N332 website appears to support that:
http://n332.es/2016/01/14/what-types-of-vehicles-can-i-drive/

“After holding your category B licence for a period of 3 years, you are automatically upgraded to be allowed to drive vehicles requiring the A1 category, which permits you to drive small motorcycles up to 125 cc and with a maximum power of 11 kW (15 hp). However, you must be aware that this is only the case in Spain. This automatic classification is not effective in other European countries without obtaining the A1 classification qualification separately. That is why, even if your license is issued in Spain, you will not see the validity dates filled in on the back of the licence unless you have undergone specific examinations. In the event of a category B licence holder riding a 125cc motorbike and getting stopped to have your details checked at the roadside, the Guardia Civil traffic officers will refer to the dates of your category B validation to ensure you qualify.”

If in doubt, you should contact the guys at N332.es and ask them for clarification.

Peter, i still find that a bit vague, it doesn't actually state which country your license was issued in, it could refer to UK licenses, but it could also be referring just to Spanish ones too!!!!
Also, when i insure my scoot, the insurance company always ask "do you have a Spanish license" When i had my UK license, several companies refused to insure me.
Anyway, i now have a Spanish license so am ok, i would still give a word of caution to people wanting to ride a 125cc on a UK license, after all it could depend on the Guardia Civil officer who stops you, we all know they interpret the laws to suit there mood!!!!!
Regards
Dave.

I have ridden a 125cc here in Spain for 15 years.
I have been stopped many times.
I have the old style paper license and it has never been questioned.
I have never been refused insurance.
So am I just lucky??
