Have you left the button pressed for long enough for pilot light to warm up the safety sensor before firing up fully?

Make sure that the valve assembly is fully pressed down (and clicked into place) on the top of the gas bottle. This is a common mistake. Some of the valves, especially with a round ring at the base of the assembly are quite difficult until you gain experience. Once the valve is in place, it is the round outer lower ring that needs to be pressed down to engage properly.

It does take quite a bit of force sometimes to achieve this. Good luck.

Highly unlikely two heaters have this fault. It's more likely a gas flow problem as said in previous posts. It doesn't sound as though you are getting the regulator on far enough down to allow the valve on the bottle to open fully. I'm a ex 40 year british gas engineer and I still find sone of them very difficult to connect

2 heaters, 1 gas bottle . . perhaps its the gas bottle? try a neighbour/friend who has a gas heater and see if it works OK on theirs or theirs on yours, it would eliminate it from the equation.

In my experience its getting the regulator to seal properly on the gas bottle - can be difficult at times. As you press the ignition button and hold down switch there should be a smell of gas if it is not lighting - if not there is no gas supply from bottle. I’ve known people in the past who have had same issues/problem. Best to ask somebody else (who has similar heater) to try while you watch.

Try this;
Remove regulator from bottle.
Moisten the rubber ring on the bottle connector.
Make sure the bottom ring on the regulator is pressed fully up.
Place the regulator on the bottle and push down the regulator as hard as possible, from first contact with the connector the regulator should force down about 5mm, ( moistening the ring helps here).
Holding the regulator down push down on the locking ring until it stops. should move about 5mm also.
Turn on the bottle.
Hold down the priming/ignition button on the fire for a few seconds. If it light keep holding the ignition button for a further few seconds.
If the fire has adjustable output you may have to depress the full heat button as well to light.

Good luck
