Sue & John - just in case my post wasn't clear I was asking for suggestions as to where I might purchase such equipment.

I do believe there is a mobility shop in Los Argos who may be able to point you in the right direction. Alternatively there is one in San Fulgencio just off the main road.

We have a hoist by the pool on our community. It was bought and put in by one of our residents but he isn't here just at present. I will ask our president if he knows where it was purchased and let you know.

I'm not sure if it will be law all over Spain one day but I recently heard on our Costablancaforum that in some areas of Spain communities are being informed by councils that they need to have a disabled hoist installed on all community pools...obviously this is not a bad thing.

However, the other thing that has reared it's head again in these other areas is that community pools over a certain size need to have life guards on duty all the time the pool is open.

This was a grey area a number of years back when some communities in the Quesada area started paying for lifeguards and then the 'rules" were either changed or had been misinterpreted.

Our friends in Gran Alicant were on a community where the pool was Olympic size and at that time (a good few years ago ) The laws said that they needed life guards on duty when the pool was open. As it was a majority of Spanish residents living there who went to the meeting, they voted that the pool would be closed all year and only open during the Spanish holiday in August to save on expenses. Many people were not happy as they were without a pool for most of the year that they were paying for in their community charges.
I do hope that law doesn't start up again as with good warning signs and rules such as no unaccompanied children, there is no real need for a lifeguard. Most community pools are not busy all year round but it should still be in use for those who do want to use it regularly out of main season.
