How to get close to the Lake?

How to get close to the Lake?

Postby Ian2009 » Thu Jan 18, 2018 8:00 pm

We are getting to know our way around - thanks to tips and guidance from this forum - been to virtually every town and village within 30 miles of Quesada but my wife keeps saying "when are we going to walk around one of the lakes?"

We have tried a couple of times to get close in the car to park up and walk but always give up! We recently went down to the end of El Raso but thought we were in the wrong place - looked a bit overgrown / isolated where we were so I quit again!

We don't mind which lake but can someone easily explain where we go in the car to leave the car and have a magical walk?

If you go to San Luis or La Siesta you can walk down to the Blue Lake which is on the opposite side to El Raso. I know people like Sat Navs but a good map shows you what is around. This area comes under Torrevieja.
There is also Parque de la Mata where there is an information Office and you can get to the Lake from there. It's on the N332 between Torrevieja and Guardamar.
Don't know about walking round the Pink Lake. There are Salt Museums in Torrevieja which are very interesting. Get a Map of Torrevieja from the Tourist Office.

Excellent - thank you very much - I will start at the N332 as I know where the roundabout is that you are referring to - have seen it and wondered what the car park was for!!!!

I always expected the access to be closer to Quesada but it makes sense now.

If you go off the roundabout on the N332 where it signposts Laguna La Mata and keep to the left road you will come down to a Nature Park with a boardwalk. We cant walk far so didnt get down to the lake but it is a lovely walk. There a branch at the beginning of the boardwalk with a signpost with the number of miles to Guardamar, I'm not sure if it runs all the way along to there.

If you go towards Torrevieja from Quesada on the 905 take a right turn right before Mercadona and that road will take you down to the pink lake where you can park and walk. Many people go there to go swimming and bathing in the lake (in the summer ;) )

Great - that covers both lakes now. I had driven around towards Montesinos and around to San Miguel looking to get in to the pink lake. Many thanks :-)

Hi,

We have cycled part way around the la Mata lake and went in the entrance with the viewing platform (see start of the youtube video, link below), which is on the CV905 road which leads from Quesada. The entrance to this part of the lake is on the left hand side going towards Torrevieja (not sure about the parking here though). It's a lovely cycle or long walk and there are stop offs with some sheltered seating and picnic areas. Very picturesque on a sunny day - We didn't do all of it as it's a very long cycle but makes a nice day out.

Has anyone walked around La Mata lake please? Just wondered how long it took.

Thanks Jan - we hear such lovely reviews about it but although we are OK to walk for an hour or two we don't cycle hence the need to get to our start point by car. So hopefully do both of them next week now :-)
