Over once again april/may for another look around. There appears to be an over abundance of properties in La Marina area. Any particular reason why that may be the case? Was gonna look at that area as not been but any local knowledge helpful. Cheers

When i was looking for property last year i was advised not to buy in La Marina area as they are hard to sell on.
I dont know for 100% if thats right but you never know so i went to Ciudad Quesada where i found a lovely property.

We go to the beach at La Marina quite a lot. The beach is lovely, there's a good restaurant right on the beach, and great dog walking in the dunes.

Personally, I can't see a reason not to buy there. Having said that, there are great facilities in Quesada. I guess it depends on what your priorities are. I don't think you can go wrong anywhere in this area. However, I am a tad prejudiced towards costa blanca south.

We have spent a couple of winters (renting) in La Marina in the past. It is worth visiting, you do get more property for your money . However it is a huge urbanisation with many different areas, obviously some parts are better than others . There are a number of relatively large commercial areas with supermarkets, bars , restaurants and other shops. It is mainly expat community , with a number of nationalities. Some outlying parts of La Marina urbanisation are very remote and far from the commercial areas - and these can be a bit of a ghost town in the winter. The best areas , imo, are the ones closer to the commercial areas and there can be some nice properties there, especially up and around Avenida de Londres. A drawback to La Marina is that it can seem very 'cut-off' and isolated as it is not possible to walk either to La Marina Village or to San Fulgencio village , a car is needed to get on and off the urbanisation . Unlike , for example, Benimar, where you can stroll into the Spanish villages of Rojales and Benijofar. But there is a range of property types from some of the older , small bungalows and townhouses to luxury villas. It has a police station, health centre etc . There still is a market twice per week , this used to be very big and lively . Last few times we have driven there though , we found that it had really shrunk in size, with much smaller number of stalls. This could be a sign of the area becoming less prosperous if the mobile market stall holders are staying away. Though maybe there is some other reason. But you should look round everywhere as there are always pros and cons to every place and much depends on the type of property you are after as well as how often you may use it ( holiday or f/t living etc ) and of course what you want to pay. We had some pleasant times in La Marina, though for the longer term we preferred to buy in the Quesada/Benimar area. If you get the chance to rent somewhere for a longer period before buying anything, that is really the best way to find the areas that you suit you best.

hello, you are not on our own, we are from Lincolnshire UK, we have been searching for a few months now, been out twice already, viewed approx. 40 properties, found just one that was worth our budget, the rest were either crumbling concrete and did not match the online photos, or were just not for our taste. so we paid the deposit for the one we wanted, had a contract, and then 2 weeks later it as gone, sold to someone else! (crazy Spanish laws!, thats a long story but I'll save boring you with details).

but we haven't given up, ....yet.
we are still searching, scouring the internet, due back out there yet again in a couple of weeks, from what we have seen so far I don't think there are any 'must avoid' areas, just personal preferences as to what you want from a property and its surround.

while we am pleased its not just me that cant find that perfect spot yet, I wish you every success in you search, Daz.

We looked at La Marina a couple of years ago, but had to be careful, as neither of us are getting younger, so needed something in an area which was relatively level. There were a few, by the Commercial Centre, which fitted this simple criteria, as it's quite 'hilly' around the Urbanisation. There's also a bus service, although we didn't investigate further when we found a property that suited us better in La Florida, Playa Flamenca. We do visit the beach and would agree with neanskyeandspain, very nice. I would definitely recommend renting first, if you're not familiar with the area, so you can get a pretty good idea of the facilities you want, public transport links, healthcare, shops, restaurants/bars and not 'closed' for the Winter, etc.. Luckily, our Daughter has an apartment, 4 minutes walk from where we are, so we've known our area for quite a few years.

Me and my family were looking for over 2 years and have just purchased on Lo Crispin, lovely urbanisation, take a look on Kyro and the banks own sites there really are some fantastic bargains around.

Just to say thank you to everyone that took the time to reply to my post. We are going to be full time residents once we find right property. As we are getting à bit older, it is important to find right one first time. We have an eye on our real old age when we may not be aso active and maybe not drive so need facilities relatively close by. Will check out La Marina and also Benimar etc as quesada area is where we want to be. Thanks again for advice.
